Choose from two models

VM1 is recommended for fixed-speed rotating equipment and can detect mid-stage bearing wear and common shaft-related defects like misalignment, looseness and imbalance in most motors, pumps and fans.

VM3 is recommended for variable speed equipment, batched and spared asset, and can detect the same faults as the VM1 in addition to early-stage bearing wear and gear mesh issues in motors, pumps, fans, compressors and gearboxes.

Truly Wireless

The Mote is a fully wireless device that has no cables or external antenna. It uses WiFi to send full vibration waveform and temperature data to the Petasense Asset Reliability & Optimization Cloud. If WiFi goes down, the Mote will store up to 50 high-res readings or several months of overall readings which will be pushed automatically once connection is reestablished.

Battery Powered

The Mote is powered by a standard CR123A battery. The batteries are field replaceable and last up to 5 years with standard settings. VM3 provides smart battery management using event detection that enables data collection only on specific triggers to optimize battery life.

Easy Installation

Install the Mote in minutes without any specialized training. Mount with industrial-grade steel epoxy or stud mount using a ¼” 28 UNF tapped socket on the base of the device.

Compact and Rugged

At just 2″ in height and 1.25″ in diameter, the Mote can be installed in the tightest of spaces. Its enclosure consists of a polycarbonate cover and a corrosion-resistant, stainless steel base (SS316). Suitable for indoor or outdoor use (IP67) and is certified for use in Class 1 Div 2 environments. The device is certified for FCC, CE, UL746C, RoHs and NEMA 250. The cover is F1-rated material for UV resistance.

Enterprise-level Security

The Mote connects to the Cloud using TLS 1.2 over a TCP connection. Client certificates are used to identify the device on the server. AES-256 ciphers are supported for communications. Access to the Cloud is secured using TLS 1.2.

Smart Measurements

VM3 uses machine learning at the edge to offer sophisticated event-based measurement, collecting sensor readings at the perfect time. For example, VM3 can take readings only when the asset is operating or running at a specific speed or range. It also provides the ability to take more comprehensive readings based on the prior measurement.
