    Petasense’s products help industrial companies eliminate production downtime caused by machine failures using IoT sensors, cloud software and AI-based analytics. Petasense IoT devices capture machine signals such as vibration, temperature and ultrasound and send it to the Petasense Cloud. Petasense Cloud uses data science and machine learning to predict the failure of industrial equipment. Users interact with Petasense using a web dashboard and a mobile app.

    We are looking for a senior embedded software engineer who is passionate about IoT and startups. You will play a central role in building the embedded software for Petasense’s next-generation IoT devices.

    You will have the opportunity to design and develop the software for Industrial IoT devices utilizing cutting edge wireless sensor networking technologies, optimized for battery life, code size, optimal connectivity, and failure resilience. You should be able to take ownership of the embedded software for various sub-components within typical IoT devices: microcontroller, device drivers, WiFi, Bluetooth, RFID, communication protocols, and power management. 

    While you will focus on embedded software development for our current and future product releases, you are also expected to juggle your time to research the latest technologies and develop rapid prototypes. You should have the passion and knack to look at a product in its entirety, including the hardware and the application software.

    Passion, self-motivation and a sense of ownership is a must. Desire to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes in true startup style is essential. Compensation will be a combination of cash and handsome equity.


    • BS in Computer Science or equivalent. Alternate proof of CS or EE fundamentals acceptable
    • 5-8 years experience in embedded systems programming and a strong background in C/C++
    • Experience writing applications that require ultra low power and small memory footprint
    • Has worked with one or more of the following MCUs – ARM Cortex M3, Atmel Atmega series, TI MSP430 or 8051 or similar MCU experience
    • Experience with the development and debugging of OS and device driver code
    • Experience with FreeRTOS/mbedOS or similar embedded operating systems
    • Experience with testing and automation of embedded applications
    • Experience with RF technologies such as WiFi, WirelessHART, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, 6LoWPAN
    • Experience with sensors, particularly industrial sensors
    • Knowledge of bus communication technologies like SPI, I2C, UART
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills



    • Knowledge of working with tools like oscilloscopes and signal generators
    • Experience in reading and interpreting PCB schematics
    • Experience as an electronics hobbyist
    • Experience with designing and debugging bootloader code
